What is EO-1?

The NASA EO-1 (Earth Observing-1) satellite is an experimental multispectral/hyperspectral imaging instrument. EO-1 was launched on November 21, 2000. The satellite was designed as a prototype for testing new multispectral and hyperspectral hardware concepts to pioneer advanced technologies for the yet-to-be-launched Landsat Data Continuity Mission.

Why is EO-1 Data Useful?

EO-1 is a Landsat-like satellite that offers an improved 10m panchromatic band and enhanced multispectral bands. The increased resolution of the EO-1 panchromatic band is especially interesting.
